TYPHOID IN SCOTLAND

Imported Meat Blamed (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ABERDEEN, May 27. The Chief - Medical Officer in Aberdeen (Dr. I. A. G. McQueen) yesterday announced a nation-wide search to trace a consignment of imported corned beef which he said caused a typhoid outbreak in Scotland- He said there were now 81 confirmed cases of typhoid in the city and eight more persons were suspected of having it. It all started, he said, from a 71b tin of imported corned beef sold in an Aberdeen store.

Dr. McQueen declined to disclose the country of origin of the tinned food. He confirmed that three of the store’s staff were down with the disease after sampling the contaminated food.
