AUSTRALIA ON TOP

Stand Of 107 (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) OXFORD, May 28. I. D. Redpath, one of the most accomplished and exciting batsmen in the Australian team, scored 95 not out. at stumps on the first day of the match against Oxford University yesterday. ■ • The Australians at close of play had scored 159 for one in reply to Oxford’s 200. Redpath hit 17 boundaries in his 95 runs, which he got in 115 minutes when he and R. M. Cowper had put on 107 runs in 58 minutes for the second wicket. Chief interest as far as the Australians were concerned centred on the slow bowler, R. H. Sellers, making his first tour appearance after his finger operation at the beginning of the month. Sellers bowled 14 overs, and had no wickets for 45 runs. He will. miss the tourists’ next game to allow his finger more time to heal.
