Munster Beats Wellington But Only By 3-2

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 28. Wellington made a second half recovery to get within one goal of the touring West German soccer club at the Basin Reserve tonight. Munster won, 3-2.

The Germans gave a lesson to Wellington in the techniques of modern football in the first 45 minutes and seemed set for a runaway win when the teams changed Over with Munster leading 3-1. . But it was the tourists who seemed to feel the fast pace after the interval. The standard of play suffered but the crowd of 4000 did not seem to care when a

magnificently headed goal by the centre-forward, R. Moore, gaye Wellington the chance of a draw. A cold wind and frequent showers hardly made for good football but from the kick-off Munster showed its ability to handle a greasy ball on the slippery turf. Within five minutes Munster went ahead. Playing orthodox tactics, the front line swept downfield and tore the home defence to pieces. H. Lulka finished off the movement from close range. Munster kept up the pressure, and in the twenty-third minute D. Drewes lobbed a perfect ball into the goalmouth. P. L. Whiting jumped, gathered in the ball, dropped it and M. Pohlschmidt tapped it into the net. In the fortieth minute Wellington replied. McCabe streaked up the wing and crossed to Moore, who bustled the ball in. Just on half-time Munster was awarded a free kick about 40 yards in front of goal. K. Boskisch hammered his

shot through a tight defensive screen and past Whiting. The second 45 minutes was a pale shadow of the first half as Munster seemed content to play out time. From a McCabe corner in the sixtyninth minute Moore headed in Wellington’s second goal. Teams:— Munster.— H. H. Menzel, H. Tybussek: D. Drewes, R. Voss, B. Pohlschmldt; H. Lulka, M. Pohlscbmidt, K.
