Welsh Team Beaten

(N.Z P.A 'Reuter—Copyright) PRETORIA, May 28. Unable to take its chances through the weakness of its backs, the Welsh Rugby Union touring team was beaten by Northern Transvaal by 22 points (two goals, a dropped goal and three penalty goals) to 9 (a try, a dropped goal and a penalty goal) yesterday. The Welshmen had the advantage in both scrums and line-outs, and J. Mantle and H. Morgan did fine work for them in the loose. But there was no inspiration among the backs, who badly lacked penetration. As in the international on Saturday, Wales flagged in the second half. They held their rivals to a 6-3 lead at the interval.
