SPIN UPSETS OXFORD
Aust. Takes Cheap Wickets
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) OXFORD, May 27. The Australian slow leg spinner, R. Sellers, showed excellent control in his first game of the tour in the opening day’s play against Oxford University today. Sellers had been operated on for the removal of a sheath from the ligament of his spinning finger three weeks ago. He bowled seven overs for 17 runs on a lifeless pitch in the pre-lunch session when Oxford lost four wickets for 92. A. Connolly, who missed two matches with a strained back, appeared to have fully recovered and made the initial break through when he bowled the opening batsman, E. Fillary. N. Hawke, however, was by far the most dangerous element of the Australian attack, and at lunch his figures were 10, 5, 19, 2.
