Delegation To P.M. On Jordan
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, May 26.
Israel’s proposed diversion of the River Jordan was opposed by a delegation from the Arab League when it met the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and officials of the Department of External Affairs yesterday. A release from the Prime Minister’s office said the delegation presented ■ a number of arguments against the legality of the proposed Israeli action, outlined steps for diversion of the Jordan headwaters which the Arab states themselves intended to undertake and said the dispute might present dangers to peace.
