MacARTHUR’S OFFER
Formation Of U.N. Force (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, May 19. The late General Douglas MacArthur once offered to lead a permanent United Nations military force, according to Mr Andrew Cordier, Dean of the Columbia University’s school of international affairs.
Mr Cordier, a former United Nations under secretary, said in an announcement by the university that General MacArthur made the offer to the then United Nations Secre-tary-General (Mr Trygve Lie) during the early fighting in the Korean War.
