Memorial Service In Pacific
f.V.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 18. A memorial service honouring New Zealand servicemen who lost their lives in the Solomon Islands in the Second World War was held on board the Royalist in one of the Pacific war’s battle areas yesterday. The service was conducted by the ship’s chaplain, the Rev. R. H. McKenzie, and the lesson was read by Chief Petty Officer P. H. Barber, of Auckland, who, as a boy was serving on board H.M.N.Z.S. Achilles when she was bombed by Japanese aircraft off Guadalcanal.
