‘EXERCISE FIRST POP '
N.Z. Units To Link
Twenty members of the Thirty-First Medium Radio Sub-Troop who are stationed at Christchurch will take part .in a major communications exercise which will link army stations from . Auckland to Bluff in the next fortnight. The exercise, classified as “Exercise First Pop”, is aimed to test Idng-range communications and the ability to man light scale equipment by air. Aircraft will leave Wigram on Monday with the equipment for Timaru, Hokitika, Invercargill and Nelson where the mobile units will be set up.
To complete the circuit of communications, radio stations will be provided at Auckland and Linton by the First and Second Communication Zone Signals Squadrons which will also participate in the exercise.
