Show Grounds Out
Because of the prolonged dry period before yesterday and work done on the grounds the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Canterbury Rugby League agreed there should be no play on the Show Grounds today.
The league will apply again 1 next week. The main game 1 between the two Tavendale I Cup leaders, Christchurch 1 and Hornby, will be played I at Papanui Domain. I Hornby will probably dominate the forward clash but I the tussle between the two I attacking sets of backs will be i interesting. i The captain-coaches, R. H. Turton (Christchurch) and M. ' L". Cooke, will play a big part. : If Hornby is allowed to play its combined game between forwards and backs it will : be hard to beat Papanui should be too ' strong in the forwards for ;
Linwood. Last week Linwood held Hornby in the first half but it is doubtful whether the big Papanui forwards and the fast outside backs will be kept in check for long. Although Marist will still be without R. S. J. Irvine, J. Keremata and B. R. Schwass, it will again have the services of J. D. Walshe and P. E. Savage. However, Addington, Marlst’s opponents, has M. J. Worters and P. M. White in form. Sydenham should defeat Kaiapoi at Murphy Park. The Sydenham team needs this victory as a further insurance against relegation.
