VACANCIES PROFESSIONAL COOK ISLANDS PUBLIC SERVICE. DENTAL OFFICER—COOK ISLANDS. APPLICATIONS are invited from single male or female graduates in dentistry for the above position. The appointee will be stationed at Rarotonga, the main island of the group. Duties will include prosthetic treatment, orthodontic treatment. oral surgery and crown and bridge work. Through the Rarotonga Hospital, the Dental Officer will be responsible for emergency treatment for jaw fractures and traumatic injuries of the face and jaw. and will also have responsibility for the control of dental disease in the Rarotonga and Outer Islands Hospitals. The appointee will also be required to lecture and demonstrate to Dental Hygienist trainees in Rarotonga and generally assist with the Dental Division’s health educational services. The Dental Officer will be requited to inspect and report on the dental staff and will therefore be required to make occasional visits to the Outer Islands by air, or local trading vessels. During the absence of the Principal Dental Officer the appointee will be responsible for control of the Division's staff. A high speed drill is available for use in Rarotonga. Salary will be in the range of £l2lO p.a. to £l6BO p.a. according to experience. A deferred location allowance of £4O p.a. will be payable on satisfactory completion of the term. The term will be for three years with the possibility of renewal. Return fares to Rarotonga will be paid for the appointee who will also be granted one month’s furlough for each year of service.
