NEW SYSTEM OF TAXATION
Change “Aid To Produetion”
A different system of taxation would be a great help towards farmers increasing production, the chairman of the North Canterbury agriculture section of Federated Farmers (Mr J. F. N. Twose) said in his report to the section’s annual conference yesterday. The system should be one where a farmer would not have to hold reserves for taxes, not knowing just how much he would have to pay, Mr Twose said. “Thus, money which could be used to produce more would be available instead of being tied up—which is a definite weakness of provisional tax,” he said.
Mobilisation.— More than 130 Regular and Territorial officers will attend an exercise at Papakura Camp in the next two week-ends to study mobilisation procedures, the employment of the logistic support force, and the organisation of battle at battalion level.—(P.A.)
