OFFERS OF HOME
Maori Couple Find House (N Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, May 15. The young Maori couple, Mr and Mrs Nana Tahau, will this week-end move into a rented house in Havelock North. Earlier in the week Mr Tahau said that he had been rebuffed by people with houses to rent because he was a Maori. Publication of his experiences brought on immediate response, he said. The best came from a young European couple. “The wife, like my own wife, is expecting a baby shortly. “They spent the evening trying to find us, and at 11 p.m. yesterday they knocked on the door of where we were staying at Bridge Pa. “They said they had been most concerned when they read of our troubles and they offered to let us share their flat until we could g-t something else.”
