Trial At Nelson
A comprehensb e programme has already been arranged for the Canterbury A. Canterbury B. and Canterbury colts’ men's basketball teams. Most of the matches are away.
The Australian Olympic basketball team will make two appearances at Cowles stadium in August. Other matches will probably be organised for the A team and a North Island tour before the national championships is still a possibility. Canterbury A's next match will be against Nelson at Nelson neat Saturday. This will be a trial before the selection of the team to compete in the regional tournament on June 13 in Timaru.
Fixtures arranged to date are:
Canterbury A —v. Nelson at Nelson. May 23: live telecast match at Cowles Stadium 'teams yet to be decided). June 6. regional tournament at Timaru June 13: South Island championships at Invercargill. July 3 and 4 or July 10 and 11; live telecast match at Cowles Stadium 'teams yet to be decided). August 3: New Zealand championships at Palmerston North. August 31 to September S. International Fixtures in Christchurch.—Canterbury or South Island v. Australia. August It: New Zealand v. Australia. August 21. Canterbury B—v. Nelson at Nelson. May 23; South Island B grade championships at Greymouth. sometime between Juno 15 and July IS: Invitation tournament at Ashburton. August 1. Canterbury Colts (under IS) Regional tournament at Timaru. June 13: South Island junior championships at a venue yet to be decided, between August 24 and 2S: final of New Zealand junior championship at Palmerston North. September I.
