The Australians should score their third win in five matches in the last day’s play against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge tomorrow. Notts, which trailed the Australians’ first innings of eight for 367 declared, by 269 runs, and had lost two for 118 at stumps, could prolong this match unless the Australian bowlers can gain some inspiration. j It would be hard to imagine a more colourless display [than the Notts second innings I batting which laboured for .160 minutes. ! The two young Victorians. 11. R. Redpath and R. M. CowI per, each scored centures ;and the Australian total
passed 300 for the first time on the tour.
Redpath and Cowper in their second-wicket stand of 190 in 223 minutes batted with a mixture of aggression and caution. Both gave easy chances—Redpath at 91 and Cowper at 63.
