Got Round With Extra Weight
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, May 10. In the Gisborne Steeplechase Handicap at the Poverty Bay meeting on Saturday King’s Host (G. Carson) fell at the sod wall with about two miles to run. The horse was caught by a spectator, Mr Roley, who mounted it, returned to the point of the fall and then completed the course.
Mr Roley weighed in at lOst 41b, which was 171 b above the declared weight which is permissible under the provisions of rule 291 D. The committee ruled that King’s Host be declared the official fourth placing.
