MAN TOOK LOCOMOTIVE
Fined £5O (N:Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, April 29. Bruce Williams Evan Millar’s experience with the Railways Department must have made him aware of the danger of unauthorised driving of a locomotive, Mr G, J. Donne, S.M., said when he fined Millar £5O in the Tauranga Court today on a charge of unlawfully taking a Railways Department locomotive at Mount Maunganui on April 3. Millar, aged 22, a former ship’s fireman, of Auckland, had earlier pleaded guilty to taking the £12,500 machine. .-The Magistrate, also placed Millar on probation for a year with special conditions that he take out a prohibition order and' abstain from alcohol.
