Praise By Bishop The work they did for the hospital enriched the ministrations it was able to make to the sick, the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) told members of the Friends of St. George’s Hospital, at their annual i meeting yesterday afternoons ' During the year articles to the value of more than £3OO have been given to St. George’s Hospital by the group. These have included woollen rugs, bed trays, a wheel chair, chapel furnishings and other furniture, carpeting, teapots and jugs. The sewing and sanctuary: guilds have also.been active.' The lady superintendent of the hospital (Mrs G. Goodwin) paid tribute to the assistance the group had given. The main effort of the year had been the market in aid of .the hospital’s building fund, by which more than £4OOO had been raised, said the president of the Friends (Mrs Janet Williams). The loyalty and interest shown had contributed to this outstanding success, she said. Plans for the coming year included the donation of a steriliser to the new operating theatre block, and the relaying of flooring in the hospital hall, she said. Other speakers included the president of the hospital (Dr. Averill), who thanked the group for their work; and Mr R. J. G. Collins (vicepresident), who is the honorary organiser of the building fund appeal. The Dean of Christchurch (the Very : Rev. W. A. Pyatt) was also! present. A bracket of songs was, later sung by Mrs Maisie Col-; Uns, accompanied by Mr! Charles Martin. The following officers were re - elected:—President, Mrs Janet Williams: secretary, Mrs F. Hiatt; treasurer, Miss A. M. Black; vice-president and executive, Mesdames A. K. Hadfield, A. M. Hadfield, B, G. Millar, R. J. G. Collins, B. M. Field, E. M. Day, I. Woolf, J. Mantell, C. H. Boswell, E. Wolton, G. Goodwin, Miss M. Chapman.
