AIR CONTROL STRIKE OFF

Union Plan To Work To Rule

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, March 31. Air traffic control staff in Paris today called off a 48hour strike after Government orders to work or risk fines of gaol. They decided instead to a work-to-rule. At a last-minute meeting which ended an hour ■ and a half after the strike-was due to start at 6 a,m. today, union leaders agreed to fall into line with Government requisition orders issued to about a third of the men affected by the strike call yesterday. But they voted in favour of a work-to-rule to maintain pressure in favour of better wages and working conditions. Airport sources said this was expected to cause delays. The strike was originally set for last Friday and Saturday, but was postponed when the Government declared it illegal because the Transport Ministry had not received the required five days’ notice.'
