Wanganella Cooks
Some cooks were earning £72 a week, plus free board and lodging, on board the floating hostel Wanganella, at Deep Cove, said the secretary of the Canterbury Hotel Workers’ Union (Mr L. Short) yesterday. This wage, he said, involved the working of long hours, and applied only to some cooks, in some weeks.
