A special meeting of the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority will be held on Tuesday to study comments on the authority’s proposals for its outline master transportation plan and to consider suggested amendments.

The comments were made at the invitation of the authority by central and local government agencies, other interested organisations, and private persons. The material was sifted, and suggestions for amendments made, by the technical sub-committee of the authority’s traffic advisory committee. The amendments were considered by the advisory committee and then the executive committee, and, with small modifications, will be placed before next week’s special meeting.

If the special meeting passes the outline plan, the plan will be tied up legally into a regional scheme, involving probably a few months’ work. This scheme will then be opened to formal objection, and after the objections have been heard and any consequent amendments made, will become an operative regional scheme—whether mandatory on reading authorities or advisory to them has not yet been decided. After the. scheme has become operative,, details of properties affected will become available as individual road middle lines are proclaimed.
