Import Controls
Sir, —In his recent statement Mr Shelton tries to throw some light on our murky fiscal policy which you rightly criticise. He makes several references to protecting industry from unfair competition. The time has long since passed when the Minister should amplify, and give instances, of just what he means, by fair or unfair competition. The word “fair” must surely have been defined Somewhere. Trusting that you will be able to get some light thrown on this most important matter.—Yours, etc., V. WILKINSON. Ashburton, March 30, 1964.
