Fire In Flat
Fire started by an overheated oven damaged a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom of an upstairs flat in a twostoreyed house in Sydenham yesterday. Firemen from the Sydenham station noticed the flames and smoke from the house at 109 Brougham street and were running to the fire engine when the fire alarm was telephoned by a passer-by. The fire was burning the interior wall linings and ceilings of the kitchen and the other two rooms, but the firemen quickly put it out. The flat is occupied by Mr L. Manu. Nobody was at home when the fire broke out, about 125 p.m.
