OFFER FOR GUITARIST

£6OOO Not Accepted (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 24. A New Zealand recording company has turned down an offer of £6OOO to free an Auckland guitarist from his five-year contract with the company. The guitarist, Peter Posa, has been offered a £714-a--week contract in the United States. However, he will be unable to accept the American offer without being released from his contract with Viking Records of New Zealand. A director of Viking Records, Mr R. W. Dalton, said that the company held exclusive recording rights on Posa until January, 1967. Mr Dalton said Posa’s contract would probably be worth about £4OOO a year to the company. “If we were offered £12,000 we would think seriously about it.”
