Power Scheme Experience (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 24. It was hoped major contractors now working on the Snowy Mountains hydro?lectric scheme in Australia would look at the upper Wai<ato power project with ‘favourable eyes,” said Mr A. W. Gibson, project engineer ■vith the Ministry of Works, •vho is in charge of all Waikato power schemes. Mr Gibson said it was hoped that the start of the £22 mil!ion upper Waikato project would coincide with the Siush of the Snowy Mountains Authority hydro-electric scheme. “Tunnelling in the upper Waikato scheme is mostly in ?ood rock, apart from one or two small tricky sections,” he said. “These boys in the Snowy Mountains have tunnelled in excellent rock and they have put up some world records. We think they would be well suited to tackle this kind of work.”
