CUP DOUBLE HOPE GONE
Defeated In Semi-Final (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 24. West Ham United, which meets Preston in the English F.A. Cup final in May, had its hopes of a double dashed yesterday when it was beaten in the semi-finals of the English League Cup. West Ham lost 0-2 at home to Leicester City in the second leg game. Leicester won, 6-3, on aggregate and now meets Stoke City in the final of this competition. Results of English league matches yesterday were:
Division I. —Manchester United 1, Chelsea 1. Division lll.—Peterborough 1, Port Vale 1.
Division IV.—Darlington 3, Newport 1: Hartlepools 3, Tran mere 2.
Scottish League Is Unchanged (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) GLASGOW, March 24. Scottish professional soccer clubs yesterday rejected a proposal that the 37 league teams should be split into three divisions instead of two. The clubs voted 22-15 on a management committee recommendation for three divisions. A two-thirds majority was needed to carry the proposal.
