£l000 Prize To Patient
. (N.Z: Press Association) , ROTORUA March 20. A Rotorua Inland Revenue Department clerk won £lOOO in an Australian lottery yesterday, the day after he had a kidney removed in the Rotorua Hospital. . The man, Mr H. Hayem, was on doctor’s advice, nbt notified of the windfall until this morning. The prize came from a Sydney Cup lottery.
Council Protest—The Auckland Trades Council is to protest against the regulations which compel a public servant to take six weeks off work without pay if he stands for Parliament. Delegates agreed it was unjust that State servants: who accepted nomination for Parliament should not have the same political, rights as any other individual.— (PA.)
