German Printing Press Manufacturer In N.Z.

The attractions of New Zealand’s hunting and fishing, and a desire to visit the country and meet friends and associates in the printing industry, has brought Mr Hubert H. A. Sternberg from Western Germany to Christchurch. He is director general and. president of the board of directors of Schnellpressenfabrik, A.G., manufacturer of the famous Heidelberg printing press. Mr Sternberg said in Christchurch that Schnellpressenfabrik is the largest manufacturer of printing machinery and equipment in Western Germany, with factories at Heidelberg, Wiesloch, and Geislingen. More than 6000 people are employed by the company. World Exports He said the company had been manufacturing printing machines for 118 years and now exported to 120 countries throughout the world. Great Britain was its largest marget. Mr Sternberg said that he hopes to meet Government printers and other members of the printing industry while he is in New Zealand. He is particularly anxious to meet associates who have visited Western Germany and seen the company’s factories in operation, or who have visited the Drupa international exhibition of printing and allied equipment at Dusseldorf. Mr Sternberg is on the ad- ' visory board to the German ■ Government’s Minister of Economy, formerly Professor Ludwig Erhard, now Chancellor. His primary role on the 1 board is as export adviser. In addition to holding api pointments in printing machi ine manufacturing associa- • tions and similar groups in i Western Germany, he is an ' honorary senator of the University of Darmstadt.

Mr Sternberg has spent a considerable time following his interest in hunting. He has hunted in Alaska, India, East and West Africa, and will soon be hunting in New Zealand, he said.
