FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred just north of the North Island and a disturbed westerly airstream covers most of the country. Forecast; Canterbury.—Fresh to strong north to northwest winds predominating; cloudy, with rain in the alps and light falls elsewhere; temperatures warm. Outlook: cloudy. Buller and Westland. —Moderate variable winds; cloudy and mild, with rain. Outlook: little change. Marlborough. North-westerlies; mainly cloudy and mild, but some drizzle. Outlook: cloudy, with showers. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds, mainly cloudy and mild, with rain at times. Outlook: showers.
