Rolling-pin Event

Included A women's rolling-pin throwing competition will again be in the annual athletics meeting of the Canter-bury-Westland division of the Salvation Army, said the divsional youth director (Captain B. McStay) yesterday. The athletics meeting, to be held on Saturday morning at Rugby Park will be attended by young athletes from most parts of the division. The numbers are not known as entries are taken on the day. Last year there were 300. The programme of 50 events would be run through In three hours, said Captain McStay. The rolling-pin event had been a feature for several years, but two new events—an officers* handicap 100 yards, and a steeplechase of 1| miles, including a water jump, had been added. This is the tenth year that the atheltics meeting has been held. The Kainga Corps has gained most points at each of the previous nine meetings.
