No Killing At Works

(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, March 19. After a lengthy meeting and a secret ballot today, employees at the Kaiti freezing works decided to continue the stop work which began on Monday. It is believed that more than a third of the men taking part in the poll this morning were in favour of resuming work. It is also thought there was some objection to the holding of the secret ballot but that the meeting decided to follow this course.

Shed Damaged By Fire.—A small, detached shed was extensively damaged by fire yesterday morning. The shed was on a property at 55 Shirley road occupied by Mr R. Steel. Firemen from the St Albans and Sockburn stations answered the alarm at 11.11 am.
