Men’s Basketball RELEGATION OF WIGRAM

Rangiora In Senior Grade

Wigram A, which finished second to last in the 1963 senior interclub competition, was relegated to senior reserve by the Canterbury Men's Basketball Association last evening, on the recommendation of the competitions committee. Its place in the senior grade was taken by Rangiora A, the winner of the senior reserve competition last season.

Seven teams, the same number as last season, were granted senior status —University A, University B, Burnham A, Y.M.C.A. A, Y-Boys A, Bex A, and Rangiora A. The senior competition will begin on Tuesday, March 31. Because of the big increase in entries, playing time for the B, C, and D grades on Wednesday evenings will be only 35min instead of 40min. Matches will begin at 6 p.m. The senior, senior reserve, and under 20 grade will be played on Tuesday evenings. Mr A. Forrester, who coached the Canterbury A squad last season, was appointed to the management, committee.

Mr I. Fogelberg was authorised to investigate the possibility of purchasing a suitable bus for the transport of representative teams in the South Island and report back to the committee. He said that it would be cheaper for the association to buy a bus than to hire one out each time the team or teams travelled In the South Island.

RAWHITI LADIES* CLUB.—Midweek match, Stableford —A grade: Mrs L. Berwick, 33 Pints; Mrs M. Leake. 31; Mrs Uhrbom, 28. B grade: Mrs P Cotton, 24 points; Mrs N. S. McCann. 24; Mrs J. McCormack, 25: Miss C. Byan, 35. Mrs Cotton won on a count-back.
