FINE WOOL FAIR

Prices Up To Expectation

Prices were fully up to expectations at the first annual fine wool breeders’ fair at the Tinwald Saleyards yesterday. A total yarding of 7315 sheep was offered and prices were on a par with those realised at the recent Tekapo ewe fair.

Entries were received from as far away as Alexandra.

The bulk of the yarding was Merinos and halfbreds and Corriedales sold at rates equal to recent sales.

Several thousand sheep offered on account of Proutings Mesopotamia, Ltd., realised good prices. Top price in the two-tooth ewe section was 86s paid for 97 halfbreds offered by D. G. Gunn.

Proutings received the top price of 36s for 256 annual draft Merino ewes. One hundred and five unregistered stud Merinos sold on account of J. C. Saunders and Company (Alexandra) fetched 655.
