DR. V. S. LAND

WELLINGTON, March 16. The death has occurred in Wellington of Dr. V. S. Land, assistant director of the hospitals division, Department of Health. He was 46. Dr. Land was educated at Scots Colege and Victoria University of Wellington, and graduated from the Otago Medical School. After three years as assistant medical superintendent of Otaki sanatorium, he went to Britain and spent two years on post-graduate work, studying diseases of the chest. Dr. Land returned to New Zealand to take up the position of superintendent of the Otaki sanatorium in 1950. Six years ago he joined the Department of Health as assistant director of the hospitals division, a position which he held until his death. Dr. Land was interested in music and was a keen golfer. He is survived by his wife.
