ASSUMED NAME
Disqualified Driver (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 17. A man who had been disqualified from driving for three years in Christchurch in May, 1962, appeared before Mr E. F. Rothwell, S.M., at the Otahuhu Magistrate’s Court today, charged with taking out a new driving licence under a false name in Papatoetoe last November.
The accused, Francis Alexander McDonald, shopkeeper, of Otahuhu, pleaded guilty. Appearing for the accused, Mr B. R. Driver said that after becoming disqualified McDonald had come to Otahuhu and bought a shop. He heard that stock for his shop could be got more cheaply if he could pick it up himself. He bought a car and spent some time trying to teach his wife to drive. Having no success, he decided to undergo a test himself under an assumed name, said Mr Driver. After obtaining the licence he had realised the seriousness of his offence and had not driven the vehicle since the test
Mr Rothwell convicted McDonald and remanded him until March 24 for a probation officer's report and sentence. He was allowed bait
