STENCH AT ARANUI
Investigation Planned
A noticeably strong stench comes from the Christchurch Drainage Board’s new plant in Aranui, a Shortland street resident has informed the board. His solicitors have told the board that it can be proved that the board is responsible for the smell, “which is in the nature of a public nuisance.” The board decided last evening to send a “suitable” reply to the request for information on what steps the board was taking to remedy the position. The board’s chemist is to investigate the matter and the residents will be asked to tell the board immediately the smell is smelled.
