ACTING FOR ACTORS
□asses For Cast Of Musical Acting classes for members of the cast of “The King and 1” are being taken by the principal actor, Mr Jeff Warren. The first class to be held while the show is in the Dominion was held on Thursday afternoon in Christchurch. Mr Warren said that when the show was in Melbourne, ] where it ran for about four ( months, interested members j of the cast felt the need for j such lessons. He liked to direct as well as to act. The ; lessons helped to keep the r ■ company in shape and bring out unknown talents. Such lessons, Which ran for two hours once a week, prevented members of the cast . from giving automatic or stale performances. This was always a danger in long-run showsAbout 30 members of the . cast attend the lessons. In ’ ; Australia, Mr Warren said, " lessons were free, but in [ Christchurch a charge of 2s , was made for each two hours. ’ This money, although only a : modest sum, would be given ; to local dramatic or musical ! companies. , Linwood High School.— .
