The Institute is intended primarily to sponsor, through relevent university departments and museums, a wide range of scholarly research on the indigenous society, culture, habitat and mental and physical characteristics of the Australian Aborigines. It is intended that the Institute will have associated with it about 100 members from all parts of Australia, and will be governed by a Council with a small Executive Committee. For the position of Principal the Interim Council is seeking a scholar eminent in some discipline relevant to Aboriginal studies. The position will carry a salary in the range £A4OOO- - per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
