Phillipstown Guild Meets

Mrs A. Mardon presided over a good attendance at the Phillipstown Townswomen’s Guild annual meeting and welcomed Mrs A. Thomson, area president and Mrs A. Edwards a visitor from Wales and one new member. Officers elected were:—President, Mrs G. Pistor; vicepresidents, Mrs E. Priest and Miss W. Robertson; secretary, Mrs M. Miles; treasurer, Mrs G. Moonlight; committee, Mesdames N. Bougen, A. Duckmanton, F. Hamilton, A. Mardon, E. Muir, D. McNaughton, J. Ricketts, V. Taylor, T. Walker, and Miss S. Boyd; circle leaders, art and crafts, Mrs G. Pistor, drama, Mrs N. Bougen, civic, Mrs F. Hamilton, gardening, Miss W. Robertson.

Women’s Club.— The Canterbury Women’s Club held i’;3 monthly afternoon meeting on Tuesday. A programme arranged by Mrs W. E. Olds (accompanist for vocal items) included brackets of songs by Mr Alastair Bell, Mr George Russell, Miss Valerie Ainsworth, and Miss Gwenyth Millar, and piano solos by Miss Beverley Kench. Mrs L. P. Bennett (president) welcomed members and artists.
