WELCOME HOME

A welcome home was given to the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr G. Manning and Mrs Manning) by the Christchurch Townswomen’s Guilds at a reception in the Girl Guide Association hall yesterday afternoon. The Christchurch federation president (Mrs A. Thomson) welcomed Mr and Mrs Manning on behalf of the guides. Mr Manning told the meeting about the ceremonies he and Mrs Manning attended and the places they visited in London and the city of Christchurch, Hampshire. Mrs Manning showed pictures from the visit and the silver fruit bowls the Corporation of the City of London gave the visitors at their ruby wedding anniversary, which

fell while they were in London. Songs were sung by Miss V. Martin; Mesdames M. F. McTeigue and M. Baker played piano duets.
