Australia To Contribute

The Australian Government will contribute £50,000 to the cost of a United Nations peace-keeping force in Cyprus, the Minister for External Affairs (Sir Garfield Barwick) announced in Canberra today. He said that although Cyprus was relatively remote from Australia, the situation had caused acute anxiety. Both parties to the dispute were long-standing friends.
