Damaged Ship Reaches Port
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 13. The Japanese bulk tallow tanker, Syotbku Maru. limped into Auckland this afternoon after a hard struggle along the storm-battered east coast of New Zealand. Dogged by persistent steering gear failure, which began in Bluff early this month, the 998-ton tanker could only steer 15 degrees to port or starboard. When she berthed at Queen’s wharf, the Syotoku Maru was labouring under 100 tons of water shipped during the voyage.
