NO BID FOR ANSETT
Denial By Chairman (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Mar. 12. The chairman and managing director of Ansett Transport Industries. Ltd. (Mr R. M. Ansett), said today that any rumours about a takeover for his company were without foundation. He said that no take-over suggestion or discussion in respect of the company had taken place either currently or in tiie past. Mr Ansett said that besides himself there were only two other large shareholders in the company. They were W. R. Carpenter Holdings, Ltd., which had held shares in its own name since Ansett had bought Mandated Airlines. Ltd., from it. and Boral, Ltd. This company had bought shares on the open market in Ansett and was still buying them. They were held in the names of nominee companies. Mr Ansett said that these large public companies held shares in many Australian companies and it was gratifying to see their expression of confidence in the future of Ansett by their holdings. Mr Ansett added that he believed that many members of the public were at last realising the potential of Ansett as an investment.
