Electricians In The Dark

The twenty-eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Electricians got away to a gloomy start in the Jellicoe Hall last evening. Delegates and guests were being welcomed by Mr C. Salisbury when an overloaded circuit-breaker tripped out and plunged the hall into darkness. •‘ls there an electrician in the house?” Mr Salisbury asked after the laughter had subsided. The 100 electricians present and their wives sat in the darkness for about a minute until the lighting was restored. However, the lights failed again, twice, before •‘volunteers’’ from the audience were successful in relieving the circuit-breaker of some of its load. The conference then continued without further interruptions—although only half the lights were on.
