NEW POST IN U.S.
Los Angeles Consulate (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. New Zealand will open a consulate at Los Angeles. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today that the recent appointment of a travel commissioner and a representative of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., in Los Angeles had made the need for on-the-spot consular facilities increasingly important.
The establishment of the new consulate was expected to facilitate the work of the Tourist and Publicity Department in promoting tourist traffic to New Zealand. It would also relieve the Consulate General in San Francisco of the very considerable volume of regular consular work arising in and around Southern California, said Mr Holyoake.
