Unauthorised Tenant Left With Furniture

HAMILTON, Feb. 17. How a house became occupied by successive tenants without the knowledge of the owner or her agents and how the last tenant took all the furniture ir. the house with him when he left was related to Mr L. M. Inglis, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Hamilton. Pakira Te Aturangi Nepia, aged 37, a market garden workman, of Rukuihia, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing a bedroom suite, a. dining-room suite, and tables and, chairs, valued at £4O, the property of Gwendoline Eva Welch. Detective-Sergeant H. E. McCombe told the Magistrate that four years ago a house at Frankton became

part of a deceased estate. An agent was authorised to let the house, but it became occupied by a succession of tenants without the knowledge of the agent. Nepia became the occupant in June, 1963. He lost his wife and child and vacated the place in October 11, taking the contents of the house with him. Nepia frankly admitted removing the furniture. Nepia was remanded until February 20 for sentence.
