Family Benefit Cards Traded
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, February 17.
Grocers and other traders had accepted family benefit cards as security, Mr H. Jackson, the retiring president, told the Master Grocers’ Association in Greymonth today. “Hire purchase continues to take an increasing slice of the wageearners’ ’cake,’ particularly for television sets. Many traders are accepting family benefit cards as security. Grocers, too, are guilty of this folly,” said Mr Jackson. “It would be wise, if you contemplate this form of trading, to acquaint yourselves first with the penalty that can be forthcoming,” Mr Jackson warned.
