G.L.B. SPORTS AT KAIAPOI

Fifty Companies Compete In spite of keen competition amongst all companies, Colombo Street Baptist won both the swimming shield and athletics* cup at the annual sports of the Ist Christchurch Divisioh of the Girls’ Life Brigade, held at Kaiapoi. Fifty companies were represented, > from ' Christchurch, Rangiora. Lyttelton and also the local Kaiapoi company. The Deputy Commissioner of the Division (Miss. M. Holland) was the convenor of the committee organising the sports. At the conclusion of the meeting the Divisional President (Mrs W. G. Leatham) presented the two trophies to the winning 29th company and certificates to the companies gaining places. Results were as follows:

Swimming Freestyle, one length, senior and junior joints final: 29th Company 1. 16th Company 2. Bth and 30th Companies equal 3. Learners’ width, senior and junior points final: 16th and 27th Companies equal 1. 14th ’Company 3. Diving, junior: 36th Company 1, Sth Company 2, 20th and ,15th companies equal 3. Diving, senior: 37th Company 1 23rd Company 2 27th Company 3. Novelty Pyjamas relay: 23rd Company 1. 14th Company 2. 29th Company 3. Final points: 29th Company (Colombo Street Baptist), 41 points, 11 16th Company (St. Giles Presbyterian) 16 points 2: 27th Company (-Addington Methodist), 14 points 3. * Athletics Flat race, senior and junior points final: 15th Company 1, 29th Company 2. 16th Company 3.
