People In The Play
Among the several distinctions won by the Auckland wicket-keeper, E. R. Tovey, during the Plunket Shield season was a record number of dismissals for Auckland in a series. Tovey claimed 22 victims, and that tally equalled the record for the competition set by T G. McMahon (Wellington) in 1960-61. * jf, J. L. Wyatt, possibly the most prolific run-scorer in New Zealand cricket, scored his 100th century when he made 114 for his Rodney club side, Omaha, last Saturday. A former Northern Districts opener, Wyatt is now aged 44. This season he has scored five centuries and has an average of 91—" about the same as most seasons.”
