ted all day to total 463 for four in. its second inniings. Records tumbled, as the batsmen piled up the runs on a- still plaaid wicket. The captain, the Nawab of Paitaudi, hit 230 not out, to beet the previous highest score by an Indian against England—. Budihi Kunderam’s 192 in the first test of the present series. Chiandu Borde (67 not out) helped Pataudi to add 190 in an unfinished partnership that became India’s best for the fifth wrek-at against any country. The old record was 177 by Borde and Polly Umrigar
against Pakistan at Madras in 1961.
Pataudi batted 7hr lOmin, hitting 23 fours , and two sixes. Kundenham completed his second century of the series, making 100 in four hours and a half.
